Our goals and motivation
Elisa Albrecht
"During my PhD, I learned how important it is to connect with other researchers and to create a supportive environment for PhD students. As a member of the doctoral council, I want to promote community building to support the needs of doctoral candidates. By doing so, we can share experiences and support each other, which makes the PhD journey easier. Since I know from personal experience how challenging a PhD can be, the mental health of doctoral students is also very important to me, which is why I am always ready to listen and help."

"Because I’ve been working as a student employee for two years at the HRA, I am already familiar with the institution. As a member of the Doctoral Council, I would like to create new opportunities for networking and promote authentic exchange. It is particularly important to me to strengthen a sense of community among us doctoral students, which accompanies us through the ups and downs of this interesting journey. The topics of mental health, self-reflection, and self-management are central to me. I would also like to involve more PhD beginners in order to provide orientation and community."
Charlotte Dumitrascu
"As a member of the PhD council, I aim to look into the interests of families within Academia. I am a mother of a 7-year-old and know how difficult it can be to find the balance between the academic world and family life in the daily routine. Thus, I want to work together with the council to promote the compatibility of PhD and family and to create information and consultation services. It is very important to me to put a spotlight on the particular difficulties of PhD candidates with children to offer them solutions on how to successfully achieve their PhD."

"As an international doctoral researcher, I recognize the importance of a supportive, diverse, and inclusive network to navigate the system and achieve professional and personal goals. As a member of the Doctoral Council, I am committed to further building such a network among the doctoral researchers and institutions at the HRA. My agenda on the HRA Doctoral Council focuses on representation, community building, and mental health."

"Networking and the sharing of ideas with other doctoral researchers can be helpful for your own learning. This is why we would like the Doctoral Council to play a central role in helping doctoral researchers in Hamburg to network. We need to understand the situation of doctoral researchers and then to offer services that meet their needs."
Sophie Munte
"My time as a doctoral researcher so far has shown me how valuable conversations with doctoral researchers from other disciplines are and how this exchange can enrich the experience of pursuing a doctoral degree. As a member of the Doctoral Council, I would like to think of communication not only as an exchange but also as a means of representing the needs of doctoral researchers. To this end, I would like to act as a contact person both for doctoral researchers in Hamburg and for incoming and outgoing international doctoral researchers."
Mirjam Reidick
"Connecting doctoral candidates in Hamburg is important to me because together we can learn valuable things from each other, support one another, and have a good time together. In this context, I also aim to actively involve international doctoral candidates. Another focus for me as a psychologist is the mental health of doctoral candidates.
