Our goals and motivation
What were our reasons for wanting to be on the Doctoral Council?
Carlos Eduardo Perez Crespo:
“As young researchers, I believe that we should make our projects and ideas known through dialog with other institutions and universities. And I think the Hamburg Research Academy is just such an institution, one that makes it possible to share the important and innovative research being done by doctoral researchers and postdocs in Hamburg.”
Elisabeth Rohwer:
“I really appreciate the fact that the Hamburg Research Academy brings together a wide range of academic disciplines as well as the diversity of doctoral researchers from several universities in Hamburg. I believe that it’s important to support transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary networking for doctoral and early career researchers from various institutions and to represent the interests of doctoral researchers.”
Marie-Therese Wiese:
“I think the work of the Hamburg Research Academy is very important, especially for doctoral researchers. Doctoral researchers face many different challenges (e.g., funding and self-management) for which they don’t always immediately have a solution. If you are stuck, it can be a great help to talk with others who are in the same situation and to get new ideas from workshops. This is where the Doctoral Council can help.”
What are our goals for the Council?
Dennis Lopatta:
“Networking and sharing ideas with other doctoral researchers can be helpful for your own learning. This is why we would like the Doctoral Council to play a central role in helping doctoral researchers in Hamburg to network. We need to understand the situation of doctoral researchers and then to offer services that meet their needs.”
