Individual advising
The Hamburg Research Academy, the main port of call for doctoral and early career researchers, offers individual advising services as an integral part of its larger portfolio. These services take place via videoconference, telephone call or face-to-face in our premises. After initial orientation we are happy to refer you to the right contact person or service provider in Hamburg.
Information sessions
In addition to our advising services, we host HRA Spotlights, regular information sessions. These 2-hour sessions provide insight into core topics related to the doctoral and postdoctoral phases.
Statement of purpose
We are committed to confidentiality, reliability, and responsibility. This means that we ensure confidentiality in all of our advising sessions while also expecting the researchers we advise to honor agreements and take responsibility for their personal situation.
Good to know
- Be aware that we list only the Hamburg Research Academy’s advising services here. Member institutions also have their own advising services.
- The UHH’s Ombuds Office and the UHH’s Family Office, in cooperation with the HRA, offer counseling for all doctoral and early career researchers at our member universities.
- The Hamburg Research Academy offers group counseling on career orientation for all doctoral candidates and postdocs at our member universities.
- The Career Coaching of the Human Resources Development of the Universität Hamburg is open to doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at UHH. We will be happy to forward your request directly.
- The HRA Doctoral Council offers peer-to-peer advising for prospective and current doctoral researchers.
