What is the 3MT Competition?

180 seconds to present your doctoral thesis – is it possible? In the Three Minute Thesis Competition, doctoral researchers of all disciplines try exactly this. The HRA Doctoral Council organizes the internationally successful 3MT® for the second time in Hamburg. Developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), the first 3MT® competition took place in 2008 for the first time and is now held in over 600 universities across the globe.

In the audience

The competition focuses on the research work of doctoral candidates from different disciplines – it will be an interesting and entertaining evening! All researchers in the audience can also gain ideas for future presentations of their own work.

Every doctoral researcher from Hamburg is invited to take part in the 3MT® competition. We especially recommend participation of doctoral researchers in their second year or further.

As part of the audience

Everyone who is interested in young research from Hamburg and would like to network across universities and disciplines. Or who simply likes similar formats (poetry slam)!

Was ist der HRA-Promovierenden-Rat?

The HRA encourages early career researchers to actively get involved. In March 2019, the Doctoral Council was founded. The Doctoral Council represents the interests of doctoral researchers and promotes networking among its peer group.
