Conditions of participation
What is the course portal?
The Hamburg Research Academy puts together this overview to help you navigate through the many offers of Hamburg’s higher education institutions. The events are all open to doctoral and early career researchers of our member institutions. The course portal lists:
- Services offered by the HRA:
workshops, information sessions, networking events - Services offered by the HRA member institutions:
events that are open to doctoral and early career researchers from other member institutions
Who can take part in offers from the course portal?
All users of the Hamburg Research Academy can take part in the events listed in the course portal. The participation is further described by the target group information for the individual events. Some offers are open to all regardless of their status group or university connection and are highlighted as such.
Information on HRA offers
- Booking limit for HRA workshops
You can take part in only 2 HRA workshops per semester. After you take part in the second workshop, your registration for further workshops will be automatically canceled, and/or your name will be automatically deleted from waiting lists. The booking limit helps us to distribute our free qualification offers fairly. This rule does only apply to workshops, not to other HRA formats (e.g. HRA Spotlights).
- Cancelation and unexcused absence
You can no longer take part in the HRA event you registered for? Please cancel your registration by using the link in the confirmation email. Unexcused absences result in an automatic exclusion from all HRA events for 6 months.
- Participation certificate for HRA workshops
After participating in HRA workshops, you will automatically receive a participation certificate by email. A certificate for HRA Spotlights is not provided. -
Requirements for participation in digital events
Attendance: Participation is only possible, if you can guarantee an uninterrupted attendance.
Attention: Online events require the same undivided attention as face-to-face events. Please refrain from parallel activities.
Interaction: In general HRA events are interactive and require your active participation.
Visibility: Please turn on your camera, if possible. Especially in our workshops, this is essential for a productive working environment.
- Notes on the use of Zoom for online events
Many online events use the Zoom software. Participation in a meeting requires the installation of the software. Participation via your browser is not possible. Passing on login data and recording are prohibited. You will be asked to provide your name before participating. It is not necessary to give your full name. If it is necessary to establish your identity, the use of a pseudonym (e.g. for students the matriculation number and for employees the routing number) is sufficient. If there is no need for you to be present with a picture, it is recommended that the video function be switched off.
The requirements of the service instruction (PDF, in German) must be observed. For more information on using Zoom and data processing, especially your data subject rights under the GDPR, see https://www.rrz.uni-hamburg.de/zoom and https://uhh.de/datenschutzrechtliche-information-zoom (PDF, in German).
- Information on face-to-face events
The Hamburg Research Academy is part of the Universität Hamburg. All information on the current coronavirus situation can therefore be found in the FAQs on the coronavirus and its impact on Universität Hamburg.
