Until 15 December, doctoral researchers and postdocs from all subjects and HRA member institutions can apply for a mentoring program by the Universitäts-Gesellschaft Hamburg that provides support for a career outside academia.

After an individual matching process, successful candidates can win an experienced manager as personal mentor, reflect on non-university career opportunities and start making important contacts for the next career steps. The program includes an introductory meeting, at least three mentoring sessions and accompanying networking events.

The mentoring was developed and launched in 2019 in cooperation with the faculty of business administration at the Universität Hamburg and the EXIST funding program as part of the "Potenziale heben" program. Since 2021 it has been open to all member universities of the Hamburg Research Academy.

Application:

Doctoral researchers and postdocs from all HRA member institutions are welcome to apply. Send your application by 15 December 2023 to: mentoring.ugh"AT"uni-hamburg.de. Please note that the mentoring will be held in German and you should hold a B2 level in German. Your application should contain:

• CV (incl. knowledge of German)
• Letter of motivation (one DIN A4 page max.) incl:
  • your career ideas and goals
  • your leadership experience
  • questions for the mentor
  • your personal expectations of the mentoring program
• Declaration of consent to the temporary storage of your data
